School Improvement Plan

Riverview Elementary School is a small, neighborhood school; more than one-fourth of its 320 students walk to school along streets bordered by well-kept yards and homes. The school has high academic expectations and stresses discipline and personal responsibility of both students and staff. Students are encouraged to participate in a variety of in-class projects, extra-curricular athletics, and home/school activities, including the science fair and Young Authors Conference.

Teachers' high expectations are matched by their equally high levels of concern and energy, and pupil/teacher ratios at all grades are quite good. Riverview's PTO has a strong membership and provides programs for students and staff so all can fully participate. Parents and community members are welcomed into the school as volunteers and mentors. Scout troops, YMCA groups, and others use the building during off school hours.

Students are eager to come to school, and feel a strong sense of belonging and camaraderie at Riverview Elementary, where they are nurtured and supported.
