Administration
Imagine a company with more than 20 branch offices. This company employs more than 2,000 people and relies upon the regular involvement of hundreds of volunteers. The most interesting thing about this company? Its mission is to stretch every human mind to its greatest potential!
That company is no figment of anyone's imagination; it is the Elkhart Community Schools. And no company of this size, or one whose task is so precious, would even consider functioning without the strongest, most solid administration firmly in place.
Unlike private companies, public schools belong to the community. Citizens have the ultimate control of how schools function when they exercise their right to vote for school board members. ECS' seven-member Board of School Trustees is an elected body that conducts essential administrative duties for the school district. One of the functions of the ECS' School Board is to select and evaluate the Superintendent of Schools.
