EHS Schools of Study

Elkhart High School students (grades 10-12) enter one of six small learning communities, based on their interests and career goals. Within each of the schools of study, curriculum and instruction are tailored specifically to the areas of study. The six schools of study are Arts & Communication; Business and International Relations; Engineering, Technology, and Innovation; Health & Public Safety; Human Services; and Natural Resources.

Early College Program

Elkhart Community Schools is home to northern Indiana's first fully-endorsed Early College Program. This program is designed to show families that college is within reach and provide an avenue for student to complete college courses prior to high school graduation. To date, Elkhart families have saved over $10.6 million in college credits earned while in high school.

Life-Ready Students

Just as important as college and career readiness, Elkhart Community Schools places a strong emphasis on life readiness. From an early grade, our students are encouraged to explore the world and cultures around them to build a strong foundation for citizenship. Woven into every classroom at ECS is our district-wide PRIDE initiative that encourages and recognizes students' Persistence, Respectfulness, Initiative, Dependability, and Efficiency - helping prepare life-ready citizens.

Athletics

Athletics are often a rallying point for a community and Elkhart is no different. With over 25 high school sports, as well as offerings at the elementary and middle school levels, ECS student-athletes give their all to proudly represent Elkhart. Learn more about ECS Athletics!

College and Career Ready

Elkhart students have the opportunity to earn a college Associates Degree prior to graduation. ECS currently offers over 30 classes with college credits through Elkhart High School and over 30 CTE programs that offer college credits or certification through the Elkhart Area Career Center. Life Ready

Just as important as college and career readiness is "life" readiness. In addition to teaching practical courses like personal finance, all ECS schools use a PRIDE rubric that recognizes students' positive behavior in five life-readiness areas: Persistence, Respectfulness, Initiative, Dependability, and Efficiency.
