Closings and Delays
When weather or other conditions cause schedule changes or school closures, Elkhart Community Schools communicates updates as quickly as possible through ParentSquare, social media, the ECS website, and local radio and TV stations.
Program Adjustments
During delays and closings, schedules for KidsCare, Elkhart Academy, EACC, sixth-grade music, Head Start, PACE, and Title I Pre-K are adjusted based on program-specific guidelines.

eLearning Days
When in-person instruction isn’t possible, ECS may implement eLearning Days so teaching and learning can continue. These may be synchronous (live instruction) or asynchronous (independent work).
2-Hour Delays
A two-hour delay means all school start times, bus pick-ups, and staff schedules begin two hours later than usual.
