Early Learning & Child Care

KidsCare

  • 2-hour delay: KidsCare will open at its normal time.
  • Closing: KidsCare will be closed. If a delay becomes a closing, KidsCare will close as quickly as possible and parents are expected to pick their children up as soon as possible.

Elkhart Academy

  • 2-hour delay: No morning session at the Elkhart Academy. Morning students are expected to complete eLearning assignments. Afternoon classes will proceed as normally scheduled.
  • Closing: If Elkhart Community Schools is closed, all Elkhart Academy classes are canceled.

Elkhart Area Career Center

  • 2-hour delay: At Elkhart Community Schools, there will be no morning classes at the Elkhart Area Career Center. Afternoon classes will proceed as normally scheduled. EHS students who ride the bus should report to the EHS cafeteria instead of EACC. EACC afternoon students will report to EACC at 12:30 p.m. on 2-hour delay days.
  • Closing: If Elkhart Community Schools is closed, all EACC classes will be canceled.

Head Start

Head Start has set the following guidelines. These apply to Head Start programs housed at Elkhart Community Schools locations:

For full-day programs: If there is a 2-hour delay, Head Start programs will also be delayed two hours.

If Elkhart Community Schools is closed, Head Start programs will be canceled. Please contact Head Start for programs housed in locations other than Elkhart Community Schools.

PACE and Title I Pre-K: 2-Hour Delay and Closings

  • If there is a 2-hour delay, PACE morning programs will be canceled.
  • If there is a 2-hour delay, PACE afternoon programs will proceed as normally scheduled.
  • If there is a 2-hour delay, Title I Pre-K will also be delayed two hours.
  • If there is a 2-hour delay on a Friday, all PACE and Title I programs will be canceled for the entire day.
  • If there is a school closing, all PACE and Title I programs will be canceled.
