Buildings & Grounds

Elkhart Community Schools’ Buildings & Grounds Department ensures students and staff have a safe, comfortable and clean environment by cleaning, maintaining and when appropriate, improving our buildings and grounds.

Our staff cleans all of our buildings and maintains their interior and exterior equipment. We landscape and maintain our lawns and playgrounds, athletics fields; and handle snow removal at all building sites.

We also responsible for:

• New equipment and safety training
• Safety procedures
• Capital building projects
• Energy conservations
• Researching and writing bids for projects
• Researching more efficient and economical methods and products to provide services
• Deliveries to buildings
• Warehousing district supplies, equipment, and records
• Plumbing, heating, and electrical components of all ECS properties
