Explore ECS: Cuisine, Careers, and Bus Adventures

On Wednesday, November 1st, the Elkhart community will have the chance to explore many facets of what Elkhart Community Schools has to offer during our Explore ECS: Cuisine, Careers, and Bus Adventures night! The event will run from 4 PM to 7 PM at Roosevelt STEAM Academy.

One of the main highlights of the event will be an opportunity to learn more about the support staff positions our district is currently accepting applications for. We're seeking dedicated individuals who are passionate about fostering a positive learning environment. Open positions include substitute teachers, food services, building services/custodians, bus drivers, paraprofessionals/technical assistance, and school nurses. For those specifically interested in transportation positions, there will be opportunities to actually drive one of our ECS school buses in a controlled environment! This is a chance for prospective drivers to get a first taste of what school bus operation is like (for those who are hired, ECS offers paid training to prepare you to drive a bus with confidence and ease). In addition, “Buster the Bus” will be present to help teach kids about bus safety!

Beyond employment-related features, this event is also a showcase of the ECS Food Services department. Families will be able to try free samples, ask questions, and talk to our food vendors about our various lunch offerings. In addition to food-related items, there will also be a table of free books for children to take home.

We are hopeful that a wide variety of people and families from across the community will find something in this event that they’re interested in, and stop by to learn more about Elkhart Community Schools!

El miércoles, 1 de noviembre, la comunidad de Elkhart tendrá la oportunidad de explorar varios aspectos de lo que las Escuelas de la Comunidad de Elkhart tiene para ofrecer durante nuestra Exploración de ECS: ¡Noche de Cocina, Carreras y Aventuras en Autobús! El evento se llevará a cabo de 4 PM a 7 PM en Roosevelt STEAM Academy.

Uno de los aspectos más destacados del evento será la oportunidad de obtener más información sobre los puestos de personal de apoyo que nuestro distrito está aceptando actualmente. Buscamos personas dedicadas y apasionadas por fomentar un entorno de aprendizaje positivo. Los puestos vacantes incluyen maestros suplentes, servicios de comida, servicios del edificio/conserjes, conductores de autobús, paraprofesionales/asistencia técnica y enfermeras escolares. Aquellos interesados específicamente en puestos de transporte tendrán la oportunidad de conducir uno de nuestros autobuses escolares de ECS en un entorno controlado. Esta es una oportunidad para los futuros conductores de obtener una primera muestra de lo que la operación de autobuses escolares es (para aquellos que son contratados, ECS ofrece capacitación pagada para prepararse para conducir un autobús con confianza y facilidad). Además, "Buster the Bus" estará presente para ayudar a enseñar a los niños la seguridad en los autobuses.

Además de las características relacionadas con el empleo, este evento es también un muestrario del departamento de Servicios de Comida de ECS. Además de artículos relacionados con la comida, también habrá una mesa de libros gratuitos para que los estudiantes se lleven a casa.
