English Learners Activity Encourages Connection Across Cultures, Ages

A great activity that uses storytelling to make bridges between cultures and age groups - it’s happening at ECS!

English Learner students at the Freshman Division School of Study recently put together bilingual books that told narrative personal stories about their educational experiences. The focus of this project was to practice storytelling structure. This morning, they took those stories over to Mary Beck Elementary, where they were able to read and discuss them with 2nd and 3rd graders. Watching the activity, you could tell that both age groups got a lot out of the experience: the younger students were excited to hear the stories, while the older students were proud to present their work and discuss their backgrounds.
