Early Learning provides children with a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment, with the supervision and guidance of competent, caring adults.
Early Learning is a term that refers to the period of time from a child’s birth to when they enter kindergarten. A strong foundation of quality Early Learning can provide a child with:
- Physical skills - tying shoes, opening food containers, playing games
- Social skills - interacting with students, teachers, and parents

Academic skills - language development, early literacy, and early math

Life skills - becoming acclimated to a schedule and routine; understanding how schools work
Head Start
Elkhart Community Schools partners with Head Start of Elkhart and St. Joseph Counties to provide classrooms for families eligible for Head Start services.
PACE
PACE (Preschool Assisting Children’s Education) Preschool is a developmental preschool that allows all students access to the highest level of rigor and academics to meet their individual needs.
Title I
Qualifications for Enrollment in the Title I Pre-K Program

Student must be 4 years old on or before August 1 for Fall enrollment

Student's home address must fall within the boundaries of an ECS Title I school building (list of Title I schools)

Student must be fully toilet-trained.
Teenage Parent Program
What does TAPP offer?
- Uninterrupted education: Regular academic credit for school-aged parents.
- Assists in obtaining proper medical care for the pregnant student and child.
- Instruction in prenatal care, child development, interpersonal relationships, and adults roles and responsibilities.
- Provides care for infants/toddlers from 2 weeks to 30 months old.
